Lewisham Deptford Conservatives have named Andy Hughes and James Clark as their candidates in the forthcoming Brockley and Evelyn ward by-elections. These by-elections are a chance to elect a strong opposition to the dominate Labour group on the council. Both by-elections take place on the 13th October 2016. Polls will be open between 7am and 10pm.
Lewisham Conservatives have selected Andy Hughes for the Brockley ward by-election. Andy has lived in Lewisham for three years and in South-East London for over a decade. Andy works near London Bridge so shares the frustration at the poor service provided by Southeastern and Southern rail.
For the Evelyn ward by-election the Conservatives have selected James Clark; James moved to Lewisham last year after leaving the Army, where he served as an Officer. James now runs his own local company and is passionate about protecting the special character of the area.
Chairman of Lewisham Deptford Conservatives, Ross Archer, said “In these by-elections local residents can elect two new councillors who will hold the councils feet to the fire and put the needs of residents first. Labour hold all but one seat on the council, they don’t need another one, no matter who wins these by-elections Labour will still run Lewisham Council but it is vital we have a strong opposition and only the Conservatives can provide that”.
Residents in Brockley and Evelyn ward will elect a new councillor on the 13th October. Polls will be open between 7am and 10pm.
