London Assembly candidate for Greenwich & Lewisham, Charlie Davis, has written to Lewisham Council to object to plans to put up a 5G Mask on Blythe Road in Catford citing the loss of pavement space, size of the structure and proximity to houses as his reasons.
Planning permission has been submitted to the council for an 18 metre 5G mask on Blythe Road with the structure only 10 metres away from the nearest house. Residents are concerned the giant structure so close to the houses will take away pavement space and leave residents left feeling enclosed.
Charlie said “I have written to the council to object to these proposals as I think they are wholly inappropriate for such a residential area. This mask will be twice the size of the houses in the area and completely out of character with the neighbourhood. Surely there must be another way to boost 5G capacity in the area without constructing these eyesores so close to residential areas”.
