Conservatives in Greenwich and Lewisham boroughs this week announced that former Greenwich Councillor Adam Thomas will be their candidate for the London Assembly elections next year.
Adam has lived in the area for over 10 years, first moving to Woolwich in 2005, and then living on the Coldharbour Estate in Mottingham, before moving to Blackheath.
In his four years serving on Greenwich Council where he represented Eltham, Adam campaigned on Housing issues and was an active member of the council's Children & Young People Committee. He has most recently been involved in campaigns on the redevelopment of the Leegate Centre and the Sutcliffe Park development.
Speaking after his selection, Adam, 31, said: "It is a great privilege to be nominated to stand for the Conservative Party for my home boroughs. As a local resident I care passionately about our area and I am proud of what the Conservatives in City Hall have achieved across Greenwich and Lewisham over the last eight years.
“ I want to continue this work and ensure that we get new affordable family houses, our commuters get a fair deal from Southeastern and that our town centres continue to get the investment they deserve.
“The residents across Greenwich and Lewisham have been let down for too long by the Labour councils and politicians that claim to represent them. I am part of this community and want to give us a much stronger voice in London on issues that matter to all of us.”
Adam will be supporting Zac Goldsmith's campaign to succeed Boris Johnson as Mayor of London.
