Lewisham Deptford Conservatives have criticised the Labour Member of Parliament for Lewisham Deptford for what they call her 'listless' response to a controversial Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) which could force Millwall Football Club to leave Lewisham.
Labour-dominated Lewisham Council's Cabinet has come under heavy criticism over its handling of the process, which has left some serious questions hanging over them. Over the weekend one of the Labour councillors in Brockley ward attacked her councils handling of the issue posting on twitter to say it did not "pass the sniff test". The Labour MP for Lewisham Deptford did 'voice concerns' back in September 2016 but local Conservatives argue that she should be doing more.
Chairman of Lewisham Conservatives Ross Archer criticised the Labour MP saying "It will be a massive loss for Lewisham if Millwall FC are forced to leave. It is quite astonishing that the local Member of Parliament has been so inactive in responding to this. Residents deserve a Member of Parliament who stands up for them, even if that puts her at odds with the Labour Leadership on Lewisham Council. Given the allegations and information that has come to light in the past week it is unbelievable that our local MP has been so silent".
